You have an opportunity to serve as an athlete representative if a minor athlete (under the age of 18) is selected for testing. USADA policies require the minor to have a representative with them. Minor athletes are required to notify a coach, parent, or medical support staff to be present during the testing process.
The well-being of the athlete is of utmost importance. As the athlete representative, you would act as the witnessing chaperone in the toilet area as the minor athlete provides a sample. Depending on specific procedures, you may be allowed to watch the actual provision of the sample or may only observe the Doping Control Officer (DCO), but only if approved by the DCO and authorized by the athlete.
