Unfortunately for athletes, in most cases, the reasons not to take dietary supplements are never presented, and the validity of “pro-supplement” perceptions do not get challenged. Athletes often skip the step of deciding whether or not taking dietary supplements is necessary and buy into assumptions that are present in the athletic community. Together with the athletes you treat, challenge the reasons to use supplements.
