Assessing the family and support systems is very important as they are key factors in influencing the child’s symptom severity and progress in therapy. Information is gathered about with whom the child lives, family dynamics, and if there is any ongoing trauma in the home environment. In addition, their social networks and support systems are assessed to know on whom the child and caregiver can rely on in times of crisis.
