The Educational Technology (EdTech) team applies technology solutions that facilitate a positive learning experience for students, designs and produces high-quality curricular content, and empowers faculty to deliver efficient and effective teaching.

Our vision is to transform Stanford Medicine by acting as a catalyst for the adoption of evidence-based, emerging, and engaging educational technology solutions and to be a leader in the academic community by sharing best practices.

Teggin (pronounced with a short ‘e’ as in ‘yes’) Summers is the Assistant Dean and Director for EdTech. She supports this dynamic team across all areas of its programs and services, including classroom support, innovation, and course and content production. Teggin fosters strategic growth and translation, supporting Stanford Medicine’s full portfolio of programs spanning UME, GME, CME, and clinical care, advancing leading edge teaching and learning for Stanford Medicine. Teggin has over 20 years of experience engaging faculty with emerging technologies and professional development, supporting media production,, and promoting equity and excellence in teaching and learning.

In her free time, Teggin enjoys running, hiking, and wakeboarding with her family and black lab, Sky.

After 28 years in the Stanford academic and professional community, Pauline specializes in process management, connecting teams, customer service, compliance and implementing solutions to support teaching and learning. As EdTech’s Strategy & Operations Director she works to make sure the team has the resources they need to provide Stanford Medicine the best support and the most innovative and effective results.

Outside of work, Pauline is a Mom, cook, world wanderer and passionate connector of people.

Irina Russell has been supporting innovative and strategic initiatives in medical education at Stanford Medicine since 2010 by pioneering many efforts in education analytics, program evaluation, and quality improvement. She joined the EdTech team in October 2024 as a Learning Design and Evaluation Director. Irina is passionate about supporting her team of Instructional Designers and building creative data-driven solutions. Irina’s background in Psychology (BA) and Cognitive Science (PhD) drives her strong interest in research and life-long learning.

Irina enjoys art and loves to cook when inspiration strikes. She lives in Alameda, CA with her husband, two children, two orange cats, and a three-legged Hermann’s tortoise named Tripod.

William Bottini is the Creative Director and manager of the production team at EdTech. He has been with the team since 2015. Together the production team applies their skills in art, design, filmmaking, storytelling, and emerging technologies to pursue impactful positive change. Before his time at Stanford, he headed video production at wellness platform Grokker Inc. He received a Masters Degree in Design at California College of the Arts (CCA) in 2017. William is based in the Bay Area.

Michael McAuliffe is a program manager with Stanford Health Care’s Office of Program Management & IT Governance. Michael’s primary program management client is the Stanford Medicine Educational Technology team. He manages the team’s academic technology and media production portfolios and provides project management for online course production.

Beyond his roles with Stanford, Michael enjoys photography and serves as president of a non-profit organization that manages the town hockey facility in Middlebury, Vermont.

Huy is the production lead of our production team. With his BFA in Animation/Illustration, Huy has been a key member of Edtech since 2015. With expertise in both 2D and 3D, Huy provides the art direction, creative ideas, and technical knowledge in many of our innovative projects. He is currently overseeing the entire production cycle, that includes visual development, animation, motion graphic, 3D modeling, and more.

When not working, Huy enjoys martial art, and is currently a Jiujitsu and Judo practitioner. He is also a casual gamer and a dog lover, with a Japanese Akita named Mitsu.

Claire loves that her role as an Instructional Designer gives her the ability to utilize skills from her project management, learning science, and research background. She is especially passionate about educational equity, within healthcare and beyond, and looks forward to working with the team to use innovation to create learner accessibility.

Outside of work, Claire is most likely on a plane en route to explore a city, backpack through the wilderness, or ski down a mountain.

Bindu has extensive experience in multimedia, audio-video production and audio-visual design. He provides leadership and direction for video production design, implementation, operations, and support across the organization. In parallel, Bindu provides consultations about AV production for non-profit organizations globally.

As the team’s Learning Innovation Specialist, Peter opts to leverage emerging technologies and learning design to create impactful educational experiences within biomedical education, and beyond. Prior to Stanford, Peter has worked as a computational biologist (ask him about evolutionary game theory!), a teacher (dare him to recite an excerpt from Campbell’s Biology, 8th Edition!), and an EdTech product implementation manager (reach out for tips and tricks on how to navigate vendors as an introvert!).

Outside of work, you can find Peter…absolutely nowhere outdoors! He is either championing escape rooms and playing board games, binging TV shows and marathoning movies, or dining at the trendiest, most overhyped eateries that Instagram influencers have convinced him are absolutely worth it..

Tela (Tee-la) joined the EdTech team in 2022 after more than 4 years teaching High School Life Science in Richmond, CA. With degrees in Human Physiology and Digital Learning, Tela has cultivated a passion for accessible, engaging health education through innovative technology tools.

When she is not reading up on cutting-edge learning technology, Tela is likely out hiking with her two energetic Mini Aussies and her partner in the beautiful Bay Area wilderness.

Fun fact: Tela was a soprano in her local choir for 12 years and loves to sing and play guitar and ukulele.

As one of EdTech’s Instructional Designers, Jessica combines a passion for science education, art, and learning new things, with an obsession with employing empathy and saying what we mean. She uses her background in theater and Environmental Justice to support Stanford Medicine’s continued efforts to deliver excellent digital content that improves health disparity outcomes.

Outside of work, she is probably at the theater, out vintage and secondhand shopping, or at home reading with her cats, plants, and partner.

Lauren is a Digital Media Specialist who joined the production team in 2015 after receiving a BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute. She transforms ideas into playful, interactive experiences by applying design, animation, and code to bring medical education projects to life.

From animating patient case games and crafting infographic designs to assisting with audio recording and developing custom analytics solutions, she collaborates creatively with the team to produce thoughtful user and learning experiences.

Katherine has provided production support to the EdTech team as a Media Production Specialist since 2019. She primarily creates illustrations and character designs for EdTech projects, and also dabbles in animation and motion graphics.

Katherine has a BFA from Carnegie Mellon University. Prior to joining Stanford, Katherine was a freelance artist. Outside of work, she likes watching movies, eating good food, and hanging out with her friends, dog, and partner.

Grace joined the team as a Media Production Specialist in 2022.

She has a passion for content creation with a focus on video production and editing. As a recent transplant from Iowa, Grace enjoys soaking in the California sun with her two cats and partner.

Marty is a Learning Technology Specialist who provides tech assistance to instructors at the School of Medicine, supports Stanford’s learning management systems, and helps the EdTech team adopt innovative technology for teaching and learning. Prior to joining EdTech, Marty completed his undergraduate degree in Computer Science at Princeton University, and he hopes to eventually get a PhD in computational biology.

Outside of his academic and professional interests, Marty is also passionate about singing & songwriting, spending time outdoors, staying active, traveling, and cooking & eating good food with good people!

Patrick’s work as instructional designer combines his past experience as a high school teacher with a love for art and design and the stubborn belief that he can learn just about anything. He’s passionate about engaging and equitable learning experiences, and he believes in design as an act of service that can improve health outcomes.

Outside of work, you can probably find Patrick breaking glass in his art studio, out for a run, or spending time with his dogs, Arlene and Meatball.
